Starcross Onyx
The third son of a successful merchant, Starcross discovered early in life that his looks opened doors that would otherwise have required great wealth or influence. Passed from one wealthy patron to another he was pampered and petted, living an effortless, if somewhat empty life.
Everything changed the night he was taken to a betrothal party held for one of the city's leading politicians and fell hopelessly in love with the young bride to be. This is what
happens when you call your son Starcross.
Ruth Nacre
Only daughter of a wealthy noble, Ruth spent her early life being considered little more than a political pawn. Her engagement to a older man noted more for his military campaigns than his affections was just the last in succession of decisions made for her without her opinions being asked let alone considered.
After years of such treatment Ruth had come calmly to accept that she would never truely be loved, but fate had other plans.
Lilith Losti
The elder of two children, Lilith was brought up by caring if conventional parents. Conventional that is for Losti, a long lived race whose homeworld lies in the same location as earth, but in a different dimension.
Now nearing her 2000th birthday Lilith is known to be both sentimental and practical. She is currently travelling with a small group of companions on a mysterious mission to protect the Gates of Eternity.
Isael Juste
Only child of ambitious parents, Isael was extensively educated on his homeworld. But the habits of learning die hard, and when Isael began to travel he found that some of the things he was taught at school just didn't fit the observed facts.
Exciled from his homeworld for fighting on the 'wrong' side at the battle of seventh gate (also known as Gorlaator), Isael is now on a mission to protect all the Gates of Eternity.
Nyx Wraethu
Youngest of a dozen or so children, Nyx spent her childhood alternately ignored and spoiled rotten. At around 400 years old, Nyx is barely an adolescent in Wraethu terms, but she has proved her worth many times.
Nyx is noted for her quick wits and her sound tactical reasoning.
Kaali Nephkaalor
Kaali is one of the G'Rai, an alien race which built the Gates of Eternity and which are known to be extremely protective of the Tears of Eternity. Kaali is thought to have in her care the Tear known as Ruth Nacre.
Kaali has a decidedly spooky air, perhaps not surprisingly as she is one of the Kephtek, G'Rai who suffer from a mystical mutation that seems to be at least partially genetic. The Kephtek experience a cyclic lifestyle, being truely alive only one day in every 28, and also spending one day in every 28 stone cold dead (at which time they can comunicate with other dead souls, although they seldom have clear recollections of this on returning to their bodies), on the other 26 days they exist in a state between living and dieing, progressing slowly from one to the other and then just as slowly returning.
Lu Losti
Lil's much younger brother and living proof that if you create an angsty tart with supernatural powers of seduction they WILL mess up your storyline by screwing someone they shouldn't. (Nah... it's under control, honest).
