Follows the daily lives of two computer/anime/etc obsessed guys who have, for reasons that I no longer recall, moved to an alternate world version of Tokyo called MegaTokyo. Despite some surreal and/or fantasy elements is mostly about everyday stuff like trying to find a girlfriend that understands you. Is pretty and insightful.
Follows the adventures of six highly different people (and at this point, a whole bunch of groupies, minions and general hangers on) as they travel through a series of themed worlds, theoretically looking for a way home but more usually getting distracted by catboys, cute guys in towels and people swinging croquet mallets.
Well it ain't subtle (as you can probably tell from the banner) but it IS pretty. Has a really cool premise (a permanent eclipse, evolution of mankind to have supernatural powers, horrible epidemics, evil corporations, etc) and the plotting is cool, if it gets held up every couple of episodes while various pretty boys decide to get laid instead of saving the world, well that's just a bonus.
Follows the daily life of a group of teenagers who's lives and loves are just a little more complicated than average. Is intelligent and usually very interesting, occasionaly a little too political for my tastes.
Not quite sure what this one is about yet as it's only got a half dozen pages up so far, but what there is looks good. Features pretty boys.
Edit: Is starting to have pretty interesting looking plot, something to do with assasins and missing bodies.
Bleak, cynical, really funny. Follows the unnamed hero's depressing and slightly surreal day to day life. Is a strangely successful mix of black comedy and philosophical rambling.
The simplistic drawing style of this comic would normally be enough to put me off (I like pretty things) but the title intrigued me enough that I had to find out what it was about. Turns out it's kind of Harry Potter in reverse: a wizard child, in this case a girl called Aylia, is sent to study in the normal world, only she ends up with roommates who are frankly every bit as weird as she is. Is so funny and original that I had to keep reading it.
Has the same art almost every episode, which is something I normally hate (or at least intensly dislike) but I'm prepared to make an exception for this particular comic. Partly this is because it's hard to imagine the two main (and only) characters doing anything other than stand around and chat because they're blades of grass. Mostly it's because the dialog is sufficiently funny and of the type of humour (read black, cynical and depressing) that I like best, also it's actually good art.
It's very sad that the artist of this comic no longer has the time to draw it because it is beautiful, although there is at least the summary so you can read how it would have ended. The setting includes all manner or supernatural creatures, but most noticeably vampires, of the very sexy variety (no nosferatu style monstrosities here thank you so very much) and the intricate plot is intelligent. Features shounen-ai.
Pretty web comic, nice characters, slightly meandering storyline, sadly has not been updated in ages. Included as a link here mostly because it is probably the comic that most influenced me to start a web comic of my own, and also inspired some of my art style. Is difficult to describe what Nymphs of the West is about, but various greco-roman gods put in an appearance on a regular basis and seem very interested in the rather confused and suicidal main character.
