The pin-ups from the pin-up week I had at the end of chapter 1 have been taken out of the main comic and can now be located here and here. They will be moved to somewhere better when I eventually get round to sorting out the site design. In other news I am officially moving to one update a week until my life becomes less full or my drawing speeds up... the update day will now be Thursday. Things like chapter pages will probably be added as a second update though, because they don't take long and they really aren't interesting enough to qualify as a full update on their own if I'm only doing one a week. If this upsets you please bear in mind that to get a comic as good as I want to is currently taking me about 16 hours, finding that amount of time twice a week for a hobby is currently not possible for me, sorry.

It seems that Keenspace lost my archive, so I've had to upload it all again... good thing it's still on my hardrive really (must do backups soon because clearly Keenspace is not to be trusted). Anyway have taken the opportunity to put up all the revamped copies of the pages early in chapter 2 that have been waiting for me to do just that in a while... the art hasn't changed and except for one page neither has the text, but I've gone through and added speach bubbles to all the pages that didn't have them so hopefully it will be easier to follow.

You may have noticed that updates have been a little, well late recently, this is largely because I'm trying to make the artwork better so it's taking me longer, also partly I have a certain amount of burn-out occuring which means that I put off starting on a new comic. This week my internet connection has also decided to play up, so all in all Tuesday's comic ended up being so late it became Friday's comic instead... sorry about that. Anyway we're nearly at the end of chapter two now and (largely due to the burn-out issues previously mentioned) I am planning to again have a couple of pin-ups before I start work on chapter three, the idea is this will give me some breathing space, to relax a bit and recover the creative energy I need to do this properly, also to give me a little extra time to do all those things I've been trying to get done for this site for ages... like updating the site and all that stuff, it might even mean I can get a little ahead of myself so that my update schedule does get thrown out every time I have problems... although in all honesty I don't hold out much hope for that one, I have the worst case of last-minuteitis of anyone I've ever met.

Well it's a few hours late but, today's comic is finally up. I had real trouble with this one I knew what I wanted the script to be (or not see later in ramble), but I didn't know what I wanted to draw, I've been told that my characters do nothing except talking a lot so I wanted to avoid that but for the life of me I couldn't come up with anything, so at 10pm (and the comics supposed to be done by midnight) I gave up and went to have a bath (I often do this when stuck for inspiration it seems to work), half way through washing my hair I suddenly thought 'Well maybe you have to actually travel to get through the gate' and there was the picture fully formed in my head. Getting it all down on paper and then screen took rather longer... unsurprisingly. But when I'd got my sketches done I looked at them and realised that the script I had would look really cramped, and in any case the last line (Lil's line in the finished comic) was more poignant on it's own than with the huge explanation it had in the script I'd written. I was going to have it the only line but when I looked at the 'finished' page I felt it needed some lead in so I added Izzy's line (which is similar to the first line Nyx had in the original version). I may add the original script to the 'deleted scenes' section when I do it (soon I promise) because it has a nice explanation of the significance of Lil's name, or rather one particular aspect of it, in Losti culture which I'm not sure I'm going to have space to put anywhere else.

I'm back, it seems my automatic updates, automatically updated, so that's good. I've just added the title page for the new chapter that's starting this week. In theory this was as well as the first page proper today, but that didn't quite work out... partly because when I tried to update this yesterday I found that the ftp program I usualy use had gone awol (I use the one on the keenspace gear site). I have now taught myself to use a different ftp program instead so I shouldn't be able to use this excuse again.
Other than that I have some changes to the site planned which may happen this week, but more probably next, I am planning to add more 'extras', stuff about where the characters came from (most of them had previous incarnations), a 'deleted scenes' section is also a possibility. Perhaps a trivia section, containing things like where Lil got her skin tones from and things like that. One thing I am planning to do is move the pin-ups from last week into a gallery section seperate from the main comic, so that they don't interupt the story for new readers. As you can see I have plenty of ideas (not necessari;y good ones), now I just have to get to work and deliver them. Wish me luck, better still wish me dedication.

Ok at the same time as I'm uploading this log comment I'm also uploading the comic updates for tomorrow and next week as I am going away. Tommorow's comic is the last page of chapter 1 and I didn't want to start chapter 2 while I was away so next week will be pin-up week, with pretty pictures of cast members appearing on regular update days of tuesday and friday.
If any of the above do not show up as advertised it means keenspace has messed up again and there's not a lot I can do about it because I won't be anywhere with internet access, in that case I will do whatever necessary to get those updates up when I get back.

My apologies for the weirdness of updates this week, partly this is I've been stressed so I've been completing comics during the day they're supposed to go up, instead of the night before. However Keenspace also has to share some of the blame as it crashed, meaning I couldn't update Tuesday's comic until midday Wednesday, and then weirdly the site seems to have mislaid Tuesday's comic again... presumably sometime on Thursday, but I have put it back up and hopefully you should be able to see it now.

Have added to the character page, sections for all named characters that have appeared in the comic so far (including the one which will not actually be named in the comic until next Tuesday). I am not entirely happy with all the character pictures used, but I guess I can change them as better images of the characters become available.

Have been working for the ministry of oversight... Have added the bloodstains to Starcross's old shirt (in the last panel before he changes outfit) which somehow I forgot. Have redone Lil's sleeves in a couple of panels where, for some reason they ended up the wrong colour... I originally did them the right colour, but sometimes psp can have some very strange bugs and I didn't notice this one at the time. Have also created this banner

In today's comic I made the speech a different colour for each character, in an effort to make it easier to follow who is saying what.
Following feedback (from the friend who told me that they were having difficulty following who was saying what in the first place) I have now altered all the speech in previous comics to be coloured as well.

As of today this comic will be bi-weekly, with new comics on Tuesdays and Fridays. Updates to other pages (like the one I've just made to the Characters page) will continue to be random.

Repeat after me 'Shadows fall away from the light, away from the light'... ahem... nothing to see here, please move along. Oh alright, when I altered page one yesterday I moved the light source to behind the girl in the red and black flowy dress, but left her shadow the same, this has now been fixed. Yes I'm aware that some panels have shadows and others (okay most of them) don't, this is an artistic thing.

Ok, phase one of plan to sort out the inconsistencies in this comic complete. Have added Lil's sleeve into page four of the prelude. Have slightly rearranged the panels on page five of the prelude because I felt the previous layout was too rigid and didn't quite match the style of the other pages. And finally have reworked page one of the prelude changing the backgrounds of the panels so that they match later pages, removing most of the background characters because feedback from friends showed that they were confusing, and adding a new version of Lil complete with sleeves and new hairstyle. Yes I know Lil's outfit suddenly has sleeves which it never did before, ummm... yes I've changed her hair slightly too, sorry... Actually that's nothing, if you go back to the first couple of pages of the prelude there's a guy with short blond hair with black tips, ok look at him, then look at the new guy in today's comic, see the resemblance? No neither do I, but it's supposed to be the same character (I had a bit of a redesign because I thought he looked dumb)... anyway don't worry about it will soon be all sorted out... *cool, calm, in control... lying... no no, not lying*.
